Challenged to bring about engagement and understanding in how we interact with US elections, we immediately joked that polling and even voting should be as easy as just sending an emoji. The room went silent. Could we?
No we couldn’t. But we could deep dive into Twitter’s API and utilize emojis to refine our understanding of hashtaged political conversations on the platform.

Using Twitter’s API, and a database with research on Emoji’s and their sentiment scores, we created a search engine for all hashtags on Twitter.
Where you could find out which top 3 emoji’s were most associated with said hashtag - as well as their individual sentiment score, and the #’s average score.
